What happens if a laptop case is a bit too small?

I thought my laptop was 15 "but did not realize the extent are supposed to be diagonal, which means that mine is actually a 16 ". I ended up buying a 15.4" laptop. I do it quite easily in and out (only a little trouble – nothing serious). But I wonder if something might happen to my laptop, since it is a bit too small? For me, buying a small one is better than buying one too big? (which can be more easily damaged if too large?)

Also Bigger is better. You will always find things you want to put in the case of the laptop.
